SUNNYBROOK SPORT LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS:
This league shall be known as the DAN OTTMAN MEMORIAL SPORT CHALLENGE LEAGUE. This
league is sanctioned by ABC through the GDBA Association. This league will be
conducted under "Sport Bowling" criteria as setup through the ABC and verified
by the GDBA.
1. WEEKLY COST: $30.00/Week per bowler and for subs. ($13.00=Bowling, $6.00=Jackpots, $7.00=Prize Fund, $1.00=Treasurer, $1.00=Promotion, $1.00=Dan Ottman Memorial Scholorship Fund).
Absent Bowlers: If a bowler is absent and no sub is provided, the absent bowler will owe $10.00 for each week missed.
New Bowlers: This league will accept new bowlers that
can bowl as a Regular for the first 3 weeks. After this, all new bowlers will be subs only.
New bowlers will have to pay the initial fees, but do not have to pay for the weeks they missed.
Also, once you have subbed for someone, you cannot become a regular.
2. INITIAL COST: The initial Sanctioning fee will be $25.00 ($9.00 if you are
already sanctioned through another league) for the sport bowling card. There will be a one-time
$20.00 lane inspection fee. The first week cost is ($75.00 for bowlers without a sanction card) ($59.00 for
bowlers with a sanction card, but not a sport bowling sanction card) ($50.00 for bowlers with a sport bowling
sanction card).
3. LANE CONDITIONS: Lane conditions will be determined by compliance to "Sport Bowling" specifications.
Lanes will be pre-inspected by the GDBA each night to determine compliance to the "Sport Bowling"
parameters. If a condition is NOT in compliance to the specifications, the option is
reserved to re-oil. If the condition is deemed NON-SPORT-COMPLIANT, the league will still
bowl, but "Sport Bowling" awards will not count. The lane conditions we use will be the same as the
Sunnybrook Youth Sport Bowling League, due to limited memory in the lane machine.
4. BOWLING RULES: Practice will start at 8:15 pm on Sunday evenings, bowling will
start at 8:30 pm. Late bowlers can miss up to 3 frames, if they miss more, they will have to miss that game.
Each team consists of 1 bowler. This is a scratch league, which means there
will be no handicap. Bowlers will bowl 5 games each week (3 qualifying, 2 match play). During qualifying,
bowlers will skip 2 pair of lanes. Lanes will be re-assigned for match play, and there will be
no skipping of lanes during match play. Bowlers will receive 1 practice shot on each lane
prior to match play.
5. POINT SYSTEM:
Qualifying: Bowlers will bowl 3 games of qualifying skipping AT LEAST 1 PAIR of lanes each game,
depending on the number of bowlers.
Intermission: After the first 3 games, the scores will be added up to determine match play.
Match Play: "Number 1 Qualifier" (Total of first 3 games) bowls "Number 2 Qualifier", 3 vs 4, and so on.
If there are an odd number of bowlers the last place bowler will get to bowl the "Blind Bowler".
Each match play winner will receive 30 bonus pins for
the night, which does not count for your average.
If you are bowling the blind, you will automatically receive the 30 bonus pins.
Final nightly pins: (Total pins of 5 games bowled + bonus pins.)
Points you will receive for the week: You will receive 5 points for showing up and 1 point
for every bowler you finish ahead of. On top of that, bonus points will be rewarded to the top 4 bowlers
for the week. 1st = +40, 2nd = +30, 3rd = +20, 4th +10. In the event of a tie, for example there is a tie
for 3rd: (1st= +40, 2nd=+20, 3rd=+10, 3rd=+10)
6. END OF SEASON BONUS POINTS: At the end of the season 25 bonus points will be awarded to bowlers who accomplish each of the following:
HIGH GAME OF THE YEAR, HIGH 5 GAME SERIES, HIGH AVERAGE, BEST MATCH PLAY RECORD.
7. MATCH PLAY FINALS: At the end of the season, the top (8 or 16) bowlers (depending on the number of bowlers in the league) with the most points
will bowl in bracket style match play. Bowlers will bowl 2 games per match. The bowler with the highest
2 game total will win the match. There will be 2 different lane conditions to bowl on, with the final
2 bowlers bowling on 1 lane condition on the left lane and the other on the right lane. This pair cannot
be bowled on until the final match. For each match, the higher seed will choose the pair of lanes their match will take place on, and also who
bowls first. If there is a tie in a match, there will be a one ball roll-off to determine the winner.
Seeding will be determined on the night of match play finals. Practice will start at the regular time. If there are not enough bowlers show up to
fill the bracket, byes will be awarded to the highest seeds.
